More than half a million foreign tourists visited Machu Picchu

Más de medio millón de turistas extranjeros visitaron Machu Picchu

According to a report from the Cusco branch of the BCR, the number of national visitors who arrived at the citadel of Machu Picchu in that period amounted to 219,000 Peruvians, higher by 24.8% compared to the same period last year (175,000 national tourists).

The number of people who made the Machu Picchu Tour was 572,000 foreign tourists between January and July this year, which represented an increase of 8% compared to the same period in 2015, the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported today through its branch in Cusco.

Likewise, the report indicates that the arrival of foreign tourists to the lodging establishments of Cusco registered a growth of 5% in the first seven months of this year, reaching one million 100,000 people.

It details that by countries of origin, from January to July of this year, 313,000 tourists from the United States arrived in Cusco City (increase of 9%), 66,000 Argentines (19%), 52,000 Chileans (15%), 37,000 Spaniards (15 %) and 34,000 Mexicans (10%). (Source: Andina)
